Welcome to the BYS Family

Postby admin » Thu Jul 10, 2008 7:34 pm

Welcome to everyone who has an interest in getting street kids into a home. Some of you may be supporters, others may be interested people. Others might have questions about what's going on. Others might be planning a trip into Kinshasa and could use some pointers, and some prayer support. Hopefully, we can get Muller and Kapay to check in now and then to answer any questions. I'm excited about being able to gather us together to make BYS an even better ministry then it already is.

If you're new, we'd love to hear how you became interested, or even "captured" by this ministry.

Clarence Peters, from Waldheim

I thought I'd begin by introducing myself as Web Admin and site developer. I got interested in BYS while I was pastor at Waldheim MB in Saskatchewan. We were looking for compassionate ministries to help the poor. We decided on this one as a church, especially as we heard about the needs for a new house. I was overwhelmed with the response of the church and the concept tugged at my heart as well. A trip there in November 2007 added reality to the equation as we walked, and bumped over Kinshasa's streets. Seeing the street kids -- before and after -- has been significant motivation for me to step up my role with helping to make this ministry succeed over the long haul.

I look forward to meeting more of you, whether on this forum or in person, or perhaps one day in Kinshasa.

Wow, it looks like we get to join in this right from the beginning! The we that I am speaking of is Chris and Diane Enns, also from Waldheim, SK. Blessings on you Clarence!

We were thrilled to be part of the response to the situation in Kinshasa, and definitely hope that we can continue to be contributing members of this ministry.

Hey, awesome to have you on board Chris and Dian! You are our first "charter members" and it's my joy to see you here! It's exciting to consider how this might develop.

Mbote!

I can't help but greet you in the language of Lingala which evokes wonderful memories of some time I spent in the Congo many years ago. I am quite shaken by finding this forum and to learn about Bomoyi Ya Sika. My name is Carolyn Whatley and for 4 months in 1996 I had the privilege of living with Pastor Nzuzi Mukawa (now Dr. Mukawa) and his family. For the past 12 years we have kept in sporadic contact and my husband and I even made it to the US twice to visit the Mukawa family while Pastor Nzuzi was studying there(we live in Thunder Bay, Ont., Can.). Throughout these years we have prayed for guidance in knowing how to respond effectively to the many needs and ongoing conflicts in the Congo. At times it has been very frustrating, wanting to do something, yet not being directed in any specific way. Over the past year our prayers have become more and more specific and have focussed on the children and youth of the Congo. Not having been in touch with Pastor Nzuzi throughout that time we have just prayed and carried on...and low and behold, this evening I came across a letter from Pastor Nzuzi himself about BYS! So, that is the long story. At this moment I am quite overwhelmed, having just looked at the video and read some of the information about the home. I'm not sure what the future holds, but it is simply awesome to see what God is doing in all of this and I am eagre to pray for this whole project and all involved. There is more to this story, but I don't want to come across as a total nut-bar, as I am fairly emotional at this moment. Thank you so much for making it possible to engage this project through this forum. I hope there will be more opportunity to connect in the future. I would really appreciate the opportunity to be in touch with Murray Nickel, but it there didn't seem to be an email or contact info for him. Help with this would be apreciated.

Sincerely,
Carolyn Whatley

Mbote MamaCarol!

So glad to have you aboard! I met Pastor Nzuzi for only a few hours when we went to Kinshasa in Nov 2007. He struck me as a man with joy, intentionality, vision, clarity, and compassion. He remains with the humble Batela church in Congo when he could have had a much "easier" life. He continues to provide the stability of vision for the church to take on the Bomoyi Ya Sika project.

Emotions are good because the move us to action! So keep up the heart for these very fine people and the work.

God bless!
