The old home was a rental, maybe 500 sq feet, next to a drinking hole.  This is a view from the window.  It was more than a little awkward at times for the girls to walk past them to get into the house, and a few incidents made it obvious a move was desirable if not necessary.  A new house would provide a greater sense of peace and necessary room for more children.  I would have taken a picture from outside, but the men wanted money for the picture and under the circumstances, I didn't feel like obliging them.
The "road" to the new house is in a community that was mostly built but not quite finished due to the interruption of one of the many wars during the Mobutu era.  As usual, one has to pick the way carefully upwards as it's not a main road, especially on wet days, of which there are plenty, though the road is better than it was!

Our magnificent, spacious, secure house.  You can see how it is being improved with the hard work of our Kinshasan friends in the before and after image.  Muller thought there could be room for up to 80 children, though some of us wonder if that's a little many for this facility.  The yard is easily as large as the house.

This room makes an excellent space for general play when it's raining, and for educational and devotional needs.  Another room has since been added from where this picture was taken to maximize space.

An outdoor wall. There are indoor toilets as well,
a little unusual actually!

The kitchen sink.
One of the more finished rooms.
Nice, eh?

Muller has style! Kapay had a little trouble getting that plaster to stick!

Tiling on the floor has been completed upstairs. Furniture donations are turning House into Home
